My Experience

After qualifying with a first class honours degree from Birmingham University in 2007, I spent the initial part of my career working within the NHS. For the last 12 years I have been employed by the national Police Rehabilitation Centre, near Reading.

Alongside my main employment I have lived and worked as a physiotherapist in the French Alps, diagnosing and treating acute injuries, providing deep tissue, recovery and relaxation massage and working with athletes competing at the annual X-Games.

I have been lucky enough to travel internationally as the Lead Physiotherapist for the ‘Strive Challenge’, giving me the opportunity to be Sir Richard Branson’s expedition physiotherapist. This role has given me the opportunity to spend 5 weeks travelling the west coast of Italy and Sicily and most recently spend 2 weeks in Bhutan, otherwise known as the Kingdom of Happiness. On the road Physiotherapy is an exhausting but exciting role, which has taught me so many invaluable skills to benefit my private treatments.

Throughout my career I have treated clients at home and within a clinical setting, in and around Henley-on-Thames and London, resulting in the opening of Optimist Physiotherapy in 2023. My focus is on accurate assessment, diagnosis and swift recovery using a wide range of treatment techniques. These techniques include manual therapy, acupuncture, education and rehabilitation exercises. Whether it be long standing back pain, day to day aches and pains, sports injuries, post-operative rehabilitation or complex multi trauma, I ensure I have my patients interest and wellbeing at the heart of every treatment plan.

My Hobbies

I have always been a keen sportswoman. As a youngster I competed internationally in hockey, lacrosse and 400m hurdles. In my early 30’s I competed as an age group sprint triathlete for Great Britain, before setting myself the challenge of completing an Ironman in 2015. Shortly after this I completed RAAM, cycling 24/7 over 8 days, covering 3200 miles within a team from the West to the East coast of America, an incredible adventure and personal achievement. Put your mind to it and almost anything is possible.

Exercise is such an important part of our health and wellbeing and although I am now currently not competing I stay fit and look after my physical and mental health by attending the excellent daily classes at the clinics neighbouring gym, ADVHQ in Henley-on-Thames.
